As you circle the rim and descend to the opposite side, the rugged terrain offers an exciting "African massage. " On your way to Serengeti National Park, you'll encounter Maasai settlements.
At Naabi Hill, a short walk leads to stunning views of the Serengeti savannah. Continuing to the Seronera area in the park, you'll be amidst the iconic Big Five: lions, elephants, buffaloes, rhinos, and leopards.

After breakfast, you'll spend the day on an extensive safari in Serengeti National Park, with a lunch break in the wilderness. Your visit may align with the spectacular great migration, where many wildebeests, zebras, and Thompson gazelles travel together. Typically, during the short rains of October and November, the herds migrate from Kenya's Masai Mara to the northwest Serengeti and return after the primary rainy season from April to June.
Your knowledgeable guide will help locate these animals for optimal viewing. The migration often attracts predators, enhancing your chances of witnessing nature's dramatic events.
You will stay overnight at Kati Kati Tented Camp. From early January to mid-March, Travellers will stay at Ndutu Kati Kati Tented Camp, closer to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, increasing their chances of seeing the migration.
Distance: approximately 170 km; driving time: about 3 to 5 hours.
Your journey begins at dawn after breakfast as you leave the enchanting Seronera Valley and head towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The early hours are perfect for spotting predators. Enjoy a picnic at a scenic spot along the way.
Upon arriving at the crater's rim, you'll be treated to stunning views of the 19-kilometer-wide caldera. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to over 25,000 animals, including many birds, hyenas, and the Big Five.
Exiting the crater through an alternate route, you'll travel to Karatu in the Ngorongoro highlands, where your evening will end at one of the beautiful Tanganyika Wilderness Adventure Lodges.
The distance is approximately 160 km, and driving takes about 2 to 3 hours. After a leisurely morning meal, you will head back to Arusha, aiming to arrive around midday.
